A person cannot cancel the liability insurance coverage on a vehicle which is still registered in the state of Pennsylvania. A person who drops liability coverage on a vehicle, which is still registered, runs the risk of losing first-party benefits when driving the vehicles that remain on the policy. Before removing liability from a vehicle, a person should turn that vehicle’s tags in to the Department of Transportation. If you own a vehicle which is only used seasonally, you may want to consider getting a seasonal registration on it. Be sure, however, that the vehicle registration has been suspended before notifying the agent to remove liability.
